Several mayors sitting in the counties have come together to support a request for financial assistance from the non-profit organization that owns and operates the Roger Séguin Reception Center.
The long term care facility in Clarence Rockland wants the counties to provide an annual grant to help fund the $ 49 million cost of a new, larger center that will meet current provincial building code standards for long-term care facilities.
In addition to the request for monies from the counties, Roger Seguin will fundraise, apply for a loan from Infrastructure Ontario and seek funding from the senior levels of government.
This week Clarence-Rockland Mayor Guy Desjardin pushed for council to approve the request for financial assistance.
Counites staff will now work out the details of the financial assistance proposal, and bring it back to the mayors for their debate and approval in June
