Jeff Bezos’ ride into space on July 20th will last 11 minutes. Bezos and his passengers will be able to unbuckle themselves and float around the cabin for three minutes before heading back to Earth.
Blue Origin, the rocket company that Bezos founded in 2000, plans to use this launch system to carry tourists up to the edge of space. Bezos will be among the first people to fly on it, alongside his brother Mark and the highest bidder for the third seat.
The Sun says billionaire Richard Branson is hoping to beat Jeff into space. A source tells the newspaper, “Virgin Galactic is working on a plan to send Branson on a suborbital flight aboard the VSS Unity SpaceShipTwo rocket plane over the July 4 holiday weekend.”
