The Eastern Ontario Health Unit expects to have 27,000 spots for COVID-19 vaccinations at mass immunization clinics before the end of the month.
During a media briefing yesterday, Medical officer of health Dr. Paul Roumeliotis said multiple clinics were already slated for the next two weeks, and that seven more have just been added – for June 20-28 – meaning there are 13 clinics this week and 14 more next week.
Dr Roumeliotis also said vaccine allocation to pharmacies and primary care practitioners will be increased over the next couple of weeks too.
The total number of vaccines administered so far has been updated to 139,129, which closes in on 80 per cent of those eligible to get the shots.
Since Friday, there have been six new cases of COVID-19 confirmed across the region.
As for active cases the Eastern Ontario Health Unit said there are six in Clarence Rockland, two in Alfred & Plantagenet two in Russell, and one case each in Hawkesbury and The Nation.
