Many teenagers took advantage of out of class learning for themselves. Not 16 year old Holly White from Rockland. She launched her own jewelry business.
The Rockland District Highschool student decided to give back. “I started the business because I like making jewelry and wanted to find a way to pass the time during the lockdown. I wanted to donate to the food bank because they are in need especially with covid,” said White.
The grade 10 student launched her business in May and recently presented The Rockland Help Centre with a cheque from proceeds she’s made for $160.00. And that’s just the beginning of what the teens hopes to raise and contribute to her community.
Holly plans to continue to donating and giving back as her mother Lisa says, “maybe next time in another area in need.”
The teen also volunteers for the Rockland youth hub and plans on attending McMaster University to study health sciences with a goal of becoming a doctor, a goal she has always said she had since she was a small child.
Hot Country Salute Holly White, and thanks her. If you have a positive, feel good story of a person, teen, senior, anyone doing something rewarding in the community, let us know: events@hotcountry925.ca
