Jeff Takes Off Into Space This Morning – The Details

Jul 20, 2021 | 6:33 AM

Business Insider says Jeff Bezos and several others will fly to space today aboard his new Shepard Rocket. If the rocket starts to fail or explodes, the capsule carrying Jeff and his passengers will detach and jetaway to avoid a catastrophe.

Jeff will take off at 9 a.m. Eastern Time.

The website says the launch and subsequent trip is 10,000 times more dangerous than flying on a commercial airliner.

The entire flight is automated. No pilot is on board.

The Daily Mail says Jeff will fly 66 miles above the Earth or 13 miles higher than Richard Branson. Live Science says the chances of Jeff and his passengers not surviving the trip are one in 1000.

Jeff’s rocket is named after the first American in space, Alan Shepard. The new Shepard Rocket will travel at three times the speed of sound
