Students Won’t Need Vac For Extracurricular Activities / Active Cases In Our Area

Ontario’s top doctor says students won’t need to be vaccinated to participate in extracurricular activities.

Resuming sports teams, bands and clubs is part of the government’s back-to-school plan, but mandatory vaccinations for teachers and eligible students is not.

Dr. Kieran Moore says there won’t be two sets of rules for participating in school activities based on vaccination status.

He says a school wouldn’t know whether a student is vaccinated anyway.

The Eastern Ontario Health Unit made a small, positive update to local COVID-19 case data Wednesday, as an active case in Clarence-Rockland was moved into the resolved column.

With that change, the EOHU is reporting four active cases across its region; two in Clarence-Rockland, one in East Hawkesbury, and one in Russell.

None of the active cases are hospitalized for treatment.
