A study published in the International Journal of Sport Nutrition and Exercise Metabolism reveals that beer can be a beneficial post-workout drink. Dr. Brad Schoenfeld is quoted by the website as saying, “Beer has carbohydrates and some sodium where water does not, which could be beneficial post-exercise.”
In order for the beer to be a beneficial post-workout drink, it cannot have an alcohol by volume of greater than 4%. One or two 12 oz servings of light beer makes for an ideal post-workout drink
