Tik-Tok Is Removing Milk Crate Challenge Videos

Aug 26, 2021 | 5:23 AM

ABC says Tik-Tok is removing Milk Crate Challenge videos from its platform because people are posting videos of themselves getting seriously injured. Tik Tok says, “TikTok prohibits content that promotes or glorifies dangerous acts, and we remove videos and redirect searches to our Community Guidelines to discourage such content. We encourage everyone to exercise caution in their behavior whether online or off.”

The Milk Crate Challenge involves stacking milk crates in a pyramid of sorts so they form steps. People try to climb up one side and down the other as the stacks get increasingly precarious.

The Louisiana Department of Health is urging people not to take the Milk Crate Challenge because of the coronavirus. “Our hospitals are filled with COVID-19 patients, pushing staff to their limits to provide lifesaving care. Please stay safe. Your local hospital may not be able to help you if you get hurt.”

Doctors at the University of Kansas posted: “You’re at risk for falling hitting your head and getting a head bleed. You’re breaking your neck and becoming paralyzed. When you fall you’re naturally extend your arm, try to catch yourself, you can break the bones in your wrist. I think this is just a silly thing that folks are doing because… It’s just stupid.”
