Instagram announced yesterday that they have halted plans to launch their “Instagram Kids” app following backlash from concerned parents. Critics say Instagram ignored research showing that the social media platform is harmful to the mental health of young people.
Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri says, “I still firmly believe that it’s a good thing to build a version of Instagram that’s designed to be safe for tweens. But we want to take the time to talk to parents and researchers and safety experts and get more of a consensus for how to move forward.”
