Degrassi Returns To TV – Will Canadians Get To See It?

Jan 17, 2022 | 6:39 AM

A lot of us grew up watching one of the “versions” of Degrassi, now we will be able to relive our younger days as HBO announced a deal to re-launch the series.

The series, which starts shooting this summer, will be available through HBO Max.  And apparently the company truly believes in the Degrassi content, as they picked up the U.S. rights for the 14 season library.

Will we get a chance to see it here in Canada? That is still up in the air, but the company behind the “re-boot” says there is a plan to make it available to Canadians as a deal is being ironed out.

Owned by WildBrain, Degrassi was originally created by Linda Schuyler and Kit Hood in 1979 and has become a Canadian institution celebrated worldwide and recognized with dozens of awards across its six series, over 500 episodes and four TV movies, including two International Emmy Awards, two Teen Choice Awards and a Peabody.
