The Divorce Gene?

Mar 14, 2022 | 6:34 AM

Is there such a thing as a “divorce gene?” A study found some women have a genetic makeup that makes them more likely than others to end a marriage.

The gene affects how women process oxytocin, or the “cuddle hormone,” which promotes feelings of love and affection.

Some women don’t process the hormone correctly leading to bonding problems with partners, friends and children. Researchers came to this conclusion after studying the DNA of more than 1,800 women and their partners.

The women with a variation of the oxytocin receptor gene were 50 percent more likely to be involved in bad marriages.
