Impaired Charges Laid Against Rockland & Cumberland Men

 Members of the Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested two motorists for impaired driving on the same day.

On January 9, 2023, at approximately 2:45 a.m., officers responded to a single vehicle collision on St-Augustin Road in Russell Township. There were no injuries.

During the investigation, the officer utilized an Approved Screening Device (ASD). The driver was arrested and transported to detachment for further testing.

Aidan NYENTAP, age 19, from Cumberland, Ontario, was charged under the Criminal Code (CC) with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) – CC 320.14(1)(b)

On the same day, shortly before 7:00 p.m., officers responded to a two-vehicle collision on County Road 17 in the City of Clarence-Rockland. There were no injuries.

During the investigation, the officer utilized an ASD. The driver was arrested and transported to detachment for further testing.

Aws AL-SADOON, age 39, from Rockland, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) – CC 320.14(1)(b)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol – CC 320.14(1)(a)
  • Fail to comply with Probation Order – CC 733.1(1)
  • Change lane – not in safety – HTA142(1)
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor – LLCA 42(1)(a)
  • Drive motor vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available – CCA2017 12(1)
  • Fail to have insurance card – CAIA 3(1)

The motorists received a 90-day driver’s license suspension, and the vehicles were also impounded for seven days.

The accused are both scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal at a later date.
