Charges Laid In Relation To Stolen Vehicle

Members of the Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged an individual who was found in possession of a stolen vehicle.

On January 23, 2022, shortly after 3:00 a.m., officers attempted to stop a suspected stolen vehicle travelling on County Road 17 in the City of Clarence-Rockland. The driver failed to stop for police but was located shortly after and arrested.

As a result of the investigation, a 16-year-old, from Terrebonne, Quebec, was charged under the Criminal Code (CC) with:

  • Possession property obtained by crime over $5,000 – in Canada CC 354(1)(a)
  • Mischief under $5,000 CC 430(4)
  • Flight from peace officer CC 320.17
  • Theft of motor vehicle CC 333.1

The identity of the accused cannot be released under the terms of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal at a later date.
