3 Motorists Charged With Impaired In 2 Days In Clarence-Rockland

 Members of the Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested three motorists for impaired driving.

On September 29, 2023, shortly before 2:00 p.m., officers responded to a two-vehicle collision on Route 300 in Russell Township. There were no injuries.

During the investigation, the officer utilized an Approved Screening Device (ASD). The driver was arrested and transported to detachment for further testing.

Shawn GOMES, age 35, from Nepean, Ontario, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol

On October 1, 2023, shortly before 12:30 a.m., officers were conducting a RIDE Program on County Road 17, in the City of Clarence-Rockland, where a driver was arrested.

During the investigation, the officer utilized an ASD. The driver was transported to detachment for further testing.

Scott BRIDGEMAN, age 37, from Clarence-Rockland, Ontario, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol

On October 1, 2023, shortly after 1:00 a.m., officers responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 417 Westbound in The Nation Township.

During the investigation, the officer utilized an ASD. The driver was arrested and transported to detachment for further testing.

Oghenegweke OKENABIRHIE, age 42, from Orleans, Ontario, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol

The motorists received a 90-day driver’s license suspension, and the vehicles were also impounded for seven days.

The accused are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal at a later date.
