2nd Annual Hot Country 92.5 Radiothon Raises Thousands For Families In Need

Nov 4, 2023 | 6:00 PM

On Saturday November 4, the community came out in full force to raise funds for The Rockland Help Center at the 2nd Annual Hot Country 92.5 Radiothon sponsored by Belanger Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram at Food Basics in Rockland.

The station broadcasted live from 9:00am-5:00pm accepting monetary donations.  Listeners who could not make the broadcast were encouraged to call in a donation, or make one on the center’s website.

As the cost of living increases, the need for help has increased from families, and seniors finding it difficult to make ends meet and feed their family.

According to a center volunteer, they are seeing at least two new families requesting help every week.  The Rockland Help Center now supports close to 300 families, a sharp increase from a few years ago where they were assist approximately 260 families.

In total just over $5,000 was raised during the event thanks to shoppers/residents and also the support of local businesses, notably Main Street Pizza, and Rockland Marine & Equipment who both made sizable donations.

Unlike other non profit organizations, all of the money stays local and is used to purchase food, from perishable, to non perishable for the baskets that are handed out to the families supported by the center.  Money donated and raised is not used for administration fees or salaries, as the center is run by volunteers.

Another way you can help the Rockland Center is to pick up the new Hot Country 92.5 Beer at Brauwerk Hoffman Rockland, which was launched days before the radiothon. CLICK HERE for more information.

“Since our partnership began, Hot Country 92.5 has helped raise over $17,000 for The Rockland Help Center.  We are committed to the center, but also other local non profit organizations, and service clubs.  Every year the radio station provides at least $80,000 in free advertising for charities/clubs and their events.  We have always been locally focused and always will be.” said Derrick Scott, Promotions Coordinator & Marketing Representative for Hot Country 92.5, and sister stations Hot Country 107.7 Hawkesbury, Lite 98.5 Ottawa-Gatineau, and Lite 106.7 Hudson/West Island.

If your service club, non profit organization is looking for assistance at promoting an upcoming event/fundraiser, reach out to Derrick Scott – dscott@evanov.ca – or 613-410-9231.

Plans are already underway for another fundraiser to support another important initiative and cause in the area.
