Speed Cameras Proposed For Hawkesbury – Now Up In The Air

By Derrick Scott Sep 17, 2025 | 6:25 AM

Hawkesbury council plans to install two photo-radar cameras as part of a two-year pilot project to reduce excessive speeding. However, recent comments from Premier Doug Ford, who opposes their use and suggests a provincial ban, cast doubt on the project.

In an interview with the Review, Mayor Lefebvre said that it would be pointless to move forward if the province changes the rules. Council will debate the issue again on October 14.

Some elected officials support the measure for safety, others criticize it as a source of revenue rather than an effective solution.
