Saturday, Broadway Bar & Grill Rockland had a packed show for the BIG Broadway Bash, organized by BIG-FM to raise funds for The Rockland Help Centre, and Canadian Mental Health Champlain East, funds will remain local in our region. This show, featuring local cover-tribute band, East End Hicks, sold out in recording time; less than two weeks.
The evening feature a wide variety of music from classic rock, blues, modern rock, WHATEVER! that you hear on BIG-FM. The band volunteered their time for the cause, as well as sound partner Simon Saumure from Tec4 Productions.
Money was raised through ticket sales, a raffle for NHL-Senators memorabilia, the sale of BIG-FM wear including hats, t-shirts and hoodies. The radio station made the decision to sell all of their wear and donated it to charity. “Now that both 92.5 BIG-FM, and 107.7 BIG-FM, Hawkesbury, are now under the GO-FM umbrella, we are 100% locally owned, and operated and will continue to find ways to give back to not only local businesses, but causes that matter to our listeners.” said General Manager of BIG-FM and GO-FM Mathieu Manning.
Setting aside money that was donated through Canadian Mental Health Champlain East’s QR Code on the event poster (which still needs to be calculated), this first annual event raised $6592.00.
Broadway Bar & Grill Rockland donated 10% of the food and bar proceeds from the event to both charities. This is an initiative that Broadway Bar & Grill has offered for many years, especially to local charities and minor sports.
“We are planning on doing more events similar to this across Prescott-Russell to not only provide affordable entertainment to residents, showcase local talent, but also support charities/associations in need.” said Derrick Scott, Operations Manager Of BIG-FM, both Clarence-Rockland, and Hawkesbury.
“Since BIG-FM launched in May, we estimate that we have already provided at least $20,000 in advertising support to local events, and charities. We invite all groups in Prescott-Russell to reach out to us, including local businesses that want to be linked to charity events, such as Sauve Law, and KoolTech Mechanical, who sponsored The BIG Broadway Bash.” said Scott.
“We offer advertising opportunities to businesses across the region, reaching a potential audience with BIG-FM’s sister station GO-FM over 75,000, but more importantly we strive to attach our advertising partners to fundraising events, and charities, including other opportunities we have in the work, to provide businesses a direct link and exposure to causes/charities that matters to our listeners. It’s a win win for everyone.” said Richard Michel, General Sales Manager of BIG-FM and 92.1 GO-FM.

The evening’s success was based on the incredible experience provided by East End Hicks. The band is looking forward to opportunities at playing local company events, corporate occasions, weddings, and the Christmas Party season. Rockland resident, “Don” was quoted as saying, “This is one of the best nights for entertainment in Rockland in the last 40 years.”
