The Ontario Provincial Police’s Operation Impact in Eastern Ontario resulted in nearly 1,700 charges between October 10 and 13. The initiative focused on impaired driving, speeding, distraction and seatbelting.
Among the tickets: 982 speeding, 29 dangerous driving charges, 41 cases of drinking and driving, 102 unfastened seatbelts, and 83 tickets for lack of insurance.
The OPP reminds drivers that the majority of fatal collisions are preventable and urges drivers to slow down, stay attentive and never drive impaired.
