The United Counties of Prescott and Russell are awaiting the occupancy permit for the new Prescott-Russell Residence in Hawkesbury.
A dispute over the interpretation of the Ontario Building Code regarding the alert level of the fire system in rooms will be submitted to the Building Code Commission, a 10- to 12-week process.
The design aims to avoid unnecessary stress for residents who need help evacuating. After the licence is issued, the Ministry of Long-Term Care will conduct its inspections.
The new 193,000-square-foot building will have 224 beds, 78 more than currently.
