Hawkesbury will call on Ottawa firefighters for confined space and overhead rescues until its own firefighters are trained.
Town council approved the temporary, pay-per-use agreement, while setting aside $60,000 for local training.
Since 2022, these services have been provided by Lachute, but the city ended its technical team in 2025. Fire Chief Brian Wilson wants to give back that capacity to Hawkesbury, which could then offer the service to neighbouring municipalities like Grenville.
