PR Residence In Hawkesbury Continue To Experience Opening Delays

By Derrick Scott Nov 5, 2025 | 6:37 AM

The new Prescott-Russell residence in Hawkesbury is still experiencing delays due to a dispute over the Ontario Building Code over the fire alarm system. The file has been submitted to the Building Code Commission, whose decision could take up to 12 weeks. According to the administration, the best-case scenario is for a hearing in January and a decision in early February 2026. Meanwhile, the United Counties are losing about $125,000 a week in revenue, according to Mayor Francis Brière. The move, originally scheduled for January 2025, has already been delayed by the effects of the pandemic on costs.
