Black Bins With Garbage Collection Starts January In Russell Township

Effective January 5, 2026, garbage collection in the Township of Russell will become fully automated, similar to the current green bin system. Between November 10 and 28, each residence will receive a new 120-litre black bin. A larger bin option may also be available. From 2026, only garbage placed in the black bin will be collected, bulk bags will no longer be accepted. The bins will have to be oriented towards the house and the collection schedule will remain weekly for at least a year.
