Trena Byrne from Champlain Township, a teacher at VCI has created a Word Search Book to raise funds for The Food Banks in Vankleek Hill and L’Orignal. The took is for Champlain Township with 112 puzzles and over 600 local references (people, places, businesses, organizations, even farms.)  As Byrne told BIG-FM, “This isn’t your typical Dollarstore word search books, this was custom made for our small area in Eastern Ontario.”

Byrne said the books make great Christmas gifts for locals who have moved, away, and for anyone looking for a non-tech gift alternative, as well as teacher gifts and corporate gifts and corporate gifts.

She says she wanted to work on a project that would give back to the community. The book is dedicated to her Uncle Gerry, who loved a good puzzle book.  His face would light up whenever he recognized a name or a place in a book.  That connection inspired me to do something similar for our little community.

The books are $20.00 each, and $5.00 from each book goes to the Food Bank.

Books are available at Champlain Health Hub in L’Orignal, Les Matantes, and Le Fromagerie Trois Rapides in Hawkesbury, along with Depanneur Lalande, Dunrobin Distilleries, Garden Path Soap, Broken Kettle Bakery, and Herb’s in Vankleek Hill.
