The United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry have adopted their 2026 budget. Despite the reduction in spending, taxes will increase by 4.48%, or about $66 more for an average home.
The main budgetary pressures continue to be policing costs and shared services with Cornwall. In 2026, SDG plans to resurface 45 km of roads, the reconstruction of the Casse and Pittston bridges. Some projects, such as a study on waste management, have been withdrawn to limit the increase in taxes.
