Many Victims Of Hawkesbury Fire Remain Homeless

By Derrick Scott Feb 2, 2026 | 5:34 AM

More than two months after the fire at the building at 810 Portelance Street in Hawkesbury, many victims are still homeless. Temporary housing paid for by the United Counties of Prescott and Russell ended on January 15, leaving some residents on the street due to a lack of affordable options. The UCPR cites a complex and unknown situation and an ongoing insurance investigation. However, several tenants say they are in the dark because of the lack of news from the Counties.
