Hawkesbury Town Council is moving towards a 4.9% increase in the tax rate for the 2026 budget, after reducing the initial projection by 5.7%. Elected officials recognize the impact on citizens, but stress the importance of economic development and infrastructure needs. The budget includes investments in roads, the fire department and the Robert Hartley Sports Centre.
The final adoption of the budget is scheduled for February 9.
