Casselman faces a shortage of family doctors due to its ineligibility for provincial financial incentives. According to Mayor Geneviève Lajoie, more than 2000 residents out of 4500 are without a doctor. With a rurality index of 39, Casselman is excluded from the programs, unlike neighbouring municipalities. The situation is forcing doctors to leave and forcing citizens, especially Francophone seniors, to travel to receive care. The municipality brought the issue to the ROMA conference, where it called on the Ministry of Health to demand more flexibility
