The costs of OPP services in Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry will be capped at an 11 per cent increase in 2026, thanks to a provincial intervention. Without this ceiling, the increase would have reached nearly 16%, for a bill estimated at more than 13 million. The executive director of the United Counties, Maureen Adams, points to a savings of $1.8 million. The OPP says it offers good value for money and plans to strengthen mental health prevention, patrols and interventions in 2026.
