A lawyer from Casselman, Marc Gauthier, is accused of embezzling more than $500,000 belonging to several clients. However, the latter’s office was located in Hawkesbury at 69 Main Street. The Ontario Provincial Police’s Serious Fraud Enforcement Office’s investigation began in December 2024 following complaints about trust funds. He faces three counts of theft over $5,000, laundering the proceeds of crime and breach of trust. His license was revoked in January for professional misconduct.
