The council of the Township of Champlain has approved the sanitary sewer rehabilitation project in L’Orignal, worth approximately $3.2 million. More than two-thirds of the funding comes from provincial grants. A total of 7,550 metres of pipes dating from the 1970s will be upgraded to reduce seepage and backflow, reduce pressure on the pumping station and treatment plant, and prevent overflows into the Ottawa River. The work is expected to extend the life of the network by at least 50 years. No start date has been set.
