Jamie MacDonald, North Glengarry Mayor, has confirmed he will run for another term in the 2026 municipal election, citing several ongoing projects as a reason to stay in office.
MacDonald said key priorities include the Alexandria Lagoon project, the Maxville Lagoon expansion, and the Alexandria Main Street redevelopment with Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry. “These projects can change the future of our township,” he said.
Reflecting on his current term, MacDonald acknowledged council could have done a better job communicating with residents on the Battery Energy Storage System in Dunvegan. He pledged to improve community engagement through public updates and appearances on Glengarry TV.
“Whether somebody’s running against somebody else, there’s a job to do, and we need to stick together and do it,” MacDonald said, emphasizing a focus on completing major projects before the next election.
