The Town of Hawkesbury unanimously supports the resolution of the Eastern Ontario Reeves’ Caucus opposing the Toronto-Quebec City high-speed rail project in its current form. Elected officials believe that the Alto project would harm communities and local farmland without offering a stop or direct benefits for the region. This opposition is part of a growing movement: Prescott and Russell, Alfred-Plantagenet, The Nation and Russell have also adopted similar resolutions, citing strong citizen concerns and a lack of information.
