The council of the Township of Champlain is unanimously opposed to the proposed route of the Alto high-speed train, which could cross the municipality. Council prefers instead the use of existing corridors, such as highways 40, 50 and 401. The resolution also opposes geotechnical or environmental work on municipal land and calls for the project to be halted until full assessments and meaningful consultation have taken place.
