Members of the Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested two people for impaired driving charges.
On Sunday, May 10, 2026, at approximately 10:20 p.m., officers responded to a fail-to-remain motor vehicle collision at a residence in Russell Township. The complainant reported that his parked car was struck while in his driveway. The suspect vehicle fled the scene immediately after the collision. Damage to the rear bumper of the parked vehicle was observed, along with debris left behind.
Shortly afterward, police located a suspect vehicle matching the description provided. A traffic stop was conducted, and officers observed damage consistent with the reported collision.
As a result of the investigation, 26-year-old, Sameul Diamanti, of Embrun has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences.
• Operation while impaired – alcohol
• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
• Fail to stop after accident
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, in L’Orignal.
The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded as part of the investigation.
On Sunday, May 17, 2026, at approximately 6:40 p.m. officers responded to a report of a vehicle swerving and driving in the middle of the road. The vehicle was located shortly after.
During the investigation an Approved Screening Device (ASD) was used. The driver failed the test and was brought back to the police detachment for further testing.
As a result of the investigation, 44-year-old, Ahindo Aese, of Sherbrooke, Quebec was charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
• Operation while impaired – alcohol
• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, in L’Orignal.
The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded as part of the investigation.
