The Town of Hawkesbury has postponed the reconstruction of Main Street West until 2027 due to new decontamination work at the former CIP site. The Ministry of Natural Resources plans to transport tens of thousands of tonnes of material, requiring thousands of truck trips through the area where the roadwork was scheduled to take place. The Town believes it is better to avoid having both projects underway at the same time in order to reduce risks, costs, and traffic disruptions. Temporary repairs will be carried out this year in the sections of the road that are in the worst condition.
