Quebec now requires Ontario truck drivers with less than two years of experience who want to obtain a Quebec licence to complete a practical driving exam. After two failed attempts, drivers will be required to complete the mandatory 125-hour training program.
The measure aims to address training gaps identified in Ontario and reduce the use of so-called “driver inc.” arrangements. However, Quebec acknowledges that the new rule does not resolve issues related to document fraud or drivers operating in Quebec with Ontario licences.
