The Township of Russell is adopting a diversified strategy to fund approximately $70 million in debt related to its new recreation complex. The sum will be divided into three loans: $17.5 million over five years, $24.5 million over ten years and $28 million over thirty years. This approach is expected to result in net savings of approximately $2.30 million in interest over the first five years, while limiting the risks associated with rising rates. The complex is scheduled to open in late 2026.
