Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a 21-year-old driver following a traffic stop in Russell Township.
On September 20, 2026, members of the Russell County Detachment of the OPP conducted a traffic stop after observing a vehicle travelling at a significantly high rate of speed on St. Thomas Road. Radar confirmed the vehicle was travelling 113 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone. The driver was subsequently stopped.
During the investigation, officers determined the driver was bound by probation conditions requiring a blood alcohol concentration of zero while operating a motor vehicle. A roadside alcohol screening test was conducted, resulting in a fail. The individual was brought back to the detachment for further testing.
As a result, 21-year-old, Alexandre Trevisan of Embrun, Ontario has been charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) and Highway Traffic Act (HTA) charges:
• Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs (CC)
• Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus) (CC)
• Fail to Comply with Probation Order (Zero Blood Alcohol Condition) (CC)
• Fail to Comply with Probation Order (Fail to Carry and Produce Probation Order) (CC)
• Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt – Excessive Speed (HTA)
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.
In addition, the vehicle was impounded for 14 days in accordance with Ontario’s stunt driving legislation, and the driver’s licence was suspended.
