The Township of Alfred and Plantagenet wants to abolish the zoning overlay protecting locally significant wetlands. Property owners say they were not sufficiently consulted and say the restrictions limited the use of their land. South Nation Conservation, however, opposes the change, fearing its environmental impacts. The township says provincial protections will remain in place. The final bylaw is expected to be presented to city council today.
