Hawkesbury Council Approves Changes To Affordable Housing

Jul 13, 2021 | 7:33 AM

Hawkesbury Town council has approved changes to a plan designed to encourage the development of more affordable housing in the town.

A recent report indicates between 971 and 1,191 households in Hawkesbury will be in core need of affordable housing as of this year.

Single-parent families were identified as in the most need of affordable homes, while one and two-bedroom dwellings are in the greatest demand in Hawkesbury.

It is being recommended the Town of Hawkesbury add six more grants and incentives to the Community Investment Plan to cover costs such as development charges, building permit fees and in some cases any increase in property taxes resulting from affordable housing developments
