If your morning commute to Ottawa involves Light Rail ….the O-Train Line 1 is temporarily closed this morning and R1 replacement bus service will run today until rail service is restored.
The City of Ottawa said the closure is being implemented from an abundance of caution to ensure all trains in the fleet continue to operate safely after an occurrence on Sunday.
The City of Ottawa said as an out-of-service train was leaving Tunney’s Pasture Station to return to the Maintenance and Storage Facility (MSF) on Sunday evening, the operator experienced an abnormal and rough ride.
The train was found to have one axel out of 10 off the rail.
No customers were on board at the time, and the train remains parked outside of Tunney’s Pasture Station.
The city said until the cause has been identified, rail service is temporarily suspended and R1 replacement bus service will operate in its place.
Throughout the closure, OC Transpo staff will be located at Line 1 stations and throughout the system to assist customers.
