That Didn’t Last Long: Mike Richards Quits As Jeopardy Host

Aug 23, 2021 | 5:35 AM

Mike Richards quit as Jeopardy host on Friday because of sexist comments he made on a previous podcast. Mike’s memo to his staff read; “It pains me that these past incidents and comments have cast such a shadow on Jeopardy! as we look to start a new chapter. Sony will now resume the search for a permanent syndicated host. In the meantime, we will be bringing back guest hosts to continue production for the new season, details of which will be announced next week. I want to apologize to each of you for the unwanted negative attention that has come to Jeopardy! over the last few weeks and for the confusion and delays this is now causing. I know I have a lot of work to do to regain your trust and confidence.” Mike is going to continue executive producing the show.

Former Jeopardy champion James Holzhauer tweeted: “I was really looking forward to the season premiere where after an exhaustive 61-clue search for the next Jeopardy champion, the show looks past the three obvious candidates and declares Mike Richards the winner”

Aaron Rodgers tells Mad Dog Radio  that he is still interested in hosting the show. “If they would have figured out a way to make it work with my schedule, year for sure”

Screen Rant says Ryan Reynolds wants LeVar Burton to replace Mike Richards. He posted: ”Pretty consistently from 2013 to 2015 Deadpool would explode on Twitter with fans wanting me to play him. It was awkward because I agreed with them but the studio didn’t see it. Ultimately the fans won and the rest is glorious history. I’m forever grateful. Hi @levarburton”

The Daily Mail says Dictionary.com mocked Mike with a tweet that read : ‘”Jeopardy” is a noun meaning “peril or danger.” Here it is in a sentence: “My job is in jeopardy because of my past comments”.’
