A new study by the University of Massachusetts-Amherst reveals that taking 7,000 steps a day cuts the risk of heart disease by 70%.
Researcher Amanda Paluch says, “This cohort study found that higher daily step volume was associated with a lower risk of premature all-cause mortality among Black and White middle-aged women and men. Participants taking at least 7,000 steps/d, compared with those taking fewer than 7,000 steps/d, had a 50% to 70% lower risk of mortality. Taking more than 10,000 steps/d was not associated with further reduction in mortality risk”
