Nov 2, 2021 | 6:40 AM

In an open letter published Monday on the municipality’s website, Russell Township Mayor Pierre Leroux wrote to residents to address two issues regarding the new Mcdonald’s restaurant in Embrun.

Leroux said since the beginning of the planning process, Russell Township staff and Council have voiced concerns regarding the drive-thru design to the developer and the United Counties of Prescott-Russell (UCPR).

Leroux said to protect township taxpayers, Russell was proactive by including provisions in the legal agreement to address the potential situation where onsite traffic flow would affect Notre-Dame St.

The mayor also commented on the growing pains being experienced at the new restaurant.

Calling on his personal experience in the retail and restaurant service industry Leroux said the last thing employees need are members of the public, quote, “degrading” them for something clearly outside their control.

Leroux, is asking the public to be considerate of those working there; saying a simple smile and acknowledgement of their hard work will go a long way for them and will help maintain the kind of community we all want to live in.
