During the week of September 12 to September 18, 2022, officers with the Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to over 315 calls for service. These included:
DOMESTIC DISPUTES – Assaults
On September 14, 2022, at approximately 8:00 a.m., Russell County OPP officers responded to a domestic disturbance in Bourget.
During the investigation, it was determined that a physical altercation occurred between four adults.
As a result of the investigation, a 47-year-old, from Casselman, was charged under the Criminal Code (CC) with:
- Assault CC 266 (Two counts)
- Uttering Threats – Damage Property CC 264.1(1)(b)
- Mischief – Domestic CC 430(4)
- Mischief under $5,000 CC 430(4)
The accused was held for bail.
On September 15, 2022, shortly before 4:45 p.m., Russell County OPP officers responded to a domestic disturbance in Rockland.
During the investigation, it was determined that a physical altercation occurred between two adults.
As a result of the investigation, a 38-year-old, from Rockland, was charged with:
- Assault – Spousal CC 266
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal at a later date.
ROBBERY
On September 18, 2022, shortly before 12:15 p.m., Russell County OPP officers responded to a suspicious person complaint at a local business on Richelieu Street in Rockland.
During the investigation, it was determined that an individual entered a store and demanded a telephone from an employee. A physical altercation occurred between three adults. There were minor injuries, and no weapons were used.
As a result of the investigation, Mario Jr CLEMENT, age 21, from Angers, Quebec, was charged with:
- Fail to comply with Probation Order CC 733.1(1) (Two counts)
- Overcome resistance by attempting to choke, suffocate or strangle another person CC 246(a)
- Robbery with theft CC 344(1)(b)
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal at a later date.
