Jun 28, 2023 | 2:43 PM

Mini Putt Hawkesbury’s grand opening is set for Canada Day at 80 Main Street West in partnership with ASD United (Autism Group).

This facility offered all 18 holes to ASD United to use to promote sponsors of the organization.  Gold Level and above (Gold Level sponsors donate a prize to each of the Rides for Autism and also donate between $250.00-$1,000 in funds, or items for the group or services.)

Sponsored holes will feature custom obstacles inspired by the corresponding sponsors.

The Mini Putt will offer first time employment opportunities to people on the spectrum providing first-time basic training and experience in a commercial atmosphere serving the public.
Mini Putt Hawkesbury will support the group as well as offering private sessions, group activities and more.  Bringing back this facility to life, and completing this project could not have been done without the generous contributions of many local businesses, who gave up their time, and also providing material at not cost.
The location has been closed for 8 years without any maintenance and has been refurbished by the Group and it’s amazing Sponsors.
Mini Putt Hawkesbury and ASD United have received so much encouragement from locals.
“Many have stopped in to to tell us that they ‘met their loved ones there’ or had ‘their first date’ or remember ‘playing as a kid’ and can’t wait to bring their children or grandchildren.” said Paul Taylor Senior from ASD United.
The group’s next goal is a camp designed to host both parents/guardians of people with Autism and those on the spectrum and encourage activities that strengthen their independence and family values in a  natural calm atmosphere.
ASD United started in 2017 with 10 members, since then there are now over 200 families from all over Eastern Ontario registered in the group.  In the last year the group successfully hosted 40 families at Ouimet Farms Adventure, “Boo At The Zoo” providing 50 family passes.
ASD United also has weekly swims at the Robert Hartley Sports Complete, games nights, movie nights, and Bingo Night.  The group also accommodates families in Clarence- Rockland including the region of Prescott-Russell.
The group has provided training to local law enforcement, health professionals and more and continue to provide its members with resources, leads and information to help better themselves and their family.
Be a part of their grand opening July 1 from 10:00am-8:00pm and help support ASD United and the many families then support locally and across the region.
