In Alfred-Plantagenet, Councillor Ian Walker expressed concern about the lack of information to residents regarding a zoning by-law amendment for lands along Highway 17.
The change removes their designation as a “Wetland of Local Significance” to allow for commercial and industrial development. Although the municipality has adopted a by-law to protect wetlands, the urban planning department specifies that only certain sites remain protected.
Council nevertheless approved the amendment, while providing for public consultations.
