Lack Of Funds To Complete Reconstruction Of Roger-Séguin Centre – Project Now On Hold

The Roger-Séguin Visitor Centre in Clarence Creek wants to build a new 128-bed complex, but it lacks $12.6 million to complete the financing.

Nearly $3 million has already been spent, with $16.6 million promised by the province and a loan of $39 million. The center is now asking the United Counties for an annual financial commitment of $750,000 over 25 years to cover its anticipated losses, but the mayors remain divided.

Some fear for financial viability, others stress the importance of preserving 113 French-language non-profit beds.

The decision is postponed to the 2026 budget, leaving the project on hold.
