The UCPR will invest $1.3 million to acquire the Lions Club Villa in Clarence Creek, adding 14 affordable housing units. More than half of the funding comes from a provincial grant, the rest from a reserve fund.
This is the first increase in the number of social housing units in Clarence-Rockland since 1998. Although major renovations of more than $1 million are planned by 2030, elected officials consider the purchase profitable compared to new construction. Future subsidies could reduce these costs.
