Town Believes Penalties Are Effective

The Town of Hawkesbury considers its new system of administrative penalties adopted in February 2025 to be effective. More than 3,600 tickets generated $74,000 and 275 appeals were settled without going to court. 14 regulations are subject to it. However, elected officials have questioned the application, especially for dirty yards. Director Brian Wilson says owners are first notified and then billed if the city needs to intervene. It encourages a more proactive approach, not just on complaints.
